This weekend we celebrated Kaylee's birthday with my dad, stepbrother, and sister. We are very grateful they took time out to be with us. My dad has two Japanese exchange students with them for a little while. They are great boys! We tried very hard to talk to them, but they understood so little. At first I was worried about how they would feel being at my house. But my worries were in vain. My children began to play with them, and before I knew it they were all out in the backyard having a blast. Who needs words to communicate? These boys chased and tickled my kids until they were purple. It was fun to witness and quite a relief. I guess most importantly it was a reminder that we are all Gods children, and we need to accept everyone no matter their gender, race, or anything else. My children reminded me that love and fun are universal. They had no problems with the fact that these boys were Japanese, and that they didn't speak.. they were being played with.. thats all that mattered. We could all learn a lesson or two from a child.
